Georgia POST has as part of its mission statement, “To provide the citizens of Georgia with qualified, professionally trained, ethical, and competent peace officers and criminal justice professionals.” Our staff works every day to further that goal. We are providing updates on some of the items that the POST Council voted on June 24, 2026.
Changes to five key areas were voted on and approved at the Council meeting.
- Approved the Amendment to POST Rule 464-5-.09 to combine with elements of Rule 464-5-.19 and then repeal Rule 464-5-.19.
- Approved Amendment to POST Rule 464-5–3.2 which will add the Uniform Law Enforcement Academy Rules (ULEAR) to the rule.
- Approved the newly revised ULEAR regulations for all academies and other training environments.
- Approved to keep the currently required Autism Response as the Mandatory Community Oriented Policing Requirement for 2027.
- Approved to grant a waiver of academy regulations regarding permanent staffing to the academy at Reinhardt College until January 1, 2027.
