Georgia POST has as part of its mission statement, “To provide the citizens of Georgia with qualified, professionally trained, ethical, and competent peace officers and criminal justice professionals.” Our staff works every day to further that goal. We are providing updates on some of the items that the POST Council voted on December 9, 2025.
Changes to four key areas were voted on and approved at the Council meeting.
- Approved the Creation of Five Limited Purpose Academies
- Approved a University of North Georgia Public Safety Academy (UNGPSA) Satellite Police Academy
- Approved Two New Locations to Instruct the High School Jailer Program
- Approved Updates for POST Rules
